Nikon today announces its fastest 1 NIKKOR lens yet, the 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 prime lens.

An exciting addition to the Nikon 1 system, this bright CX-format standard lens offers Nikon 1 owners the chance to venture out beyond a kit lens and take advantage of the creative possibilities that fast aperture can offer, including pleasantly blurred backgrounds in portraiture and comfortable low-light shooting.

The 18.5 mm fixed focal length offers a picture angle equivalent to approx. 50 mm in 35 mm format, which is ideal for portraits as well as general photography. The fast f/1.8 maximum aperture perfectly balances sharpness and bokeh, rendering low-light moments with superb clarity and letting you single out subjects to create images with smooth, out-of-focus backgrounds.

Equipped with high-quality glass, this 1 NIKKOR lens delivers edge-to-edge sharpness even at maximum aperture. An aspherical lens element ensures superior resolution and contrast, and a smooth aperture mechanism lets you move easily from sharp to soft backgrounds whether you are shooting stills or a movie.
