Take the portable way to 24/7 perfection with the all-new range of Nikon DL premium compacts (23.02.2016)
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 23rd February 2016: Nikon shakes up the premium compact market with a whole new range that gives ‘always-on’ photographers a portable way to 24/7 perfection. With legendary NIKKOR optics and powerful Nikon technology, Nikon DL premium compacts deliver incredible image quality for every opportunity.
Three models make up the all-new range: the Nikon DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, the Nikon DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, and the Nikon DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6. Each camera boasts a fixed NIKKOR zoom lens with high-performance optics to match those found in Nikon DSLR lenses, and a fast 1-inch CX-format sensor. Whichever Nikon DL camera a photographer uses, they can capture 20.8 MP stills in JPEG or NEF (RAW) format, and 4K/UHD movies at 30p/25p.
Every Nikon DL premium compact also employs Nikon’s acclaimed Advanced Hybrid AF system for blazingly fast subject acquisition. An EXPEED 6A processor with no less than four CPUs is the engine behind each camera’s astonishing shooting speeds: up to a mind-blowing 60 fps with focus fixed at the first frame, or up to 20 fps with continuous AF. Nikon’s Dual Detect Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) system delivers enhanced shake detection and correction, and every camera boasts rapid start up and response times. In addition, each camera features an ISO 518 hot shoe, which accepts various accessories including trusted Nikon DSLR Speedlights. Dedicated Nikon DL accessories include the optional DF-E1 tiltable electronic viewfinder (EVF) with eye sensor, which offers clear visibility and a high-contrast information display. Nikon DSLR users will also appreciate the familiar control buttons, dials and menus. And the lens barrel on each camera is detailed with the signature gold NIKKOR ring.
Ines Bernardes, product manager Nikon DL, Nikon Europe says: “The fact that Nikon are entering the premium compact market with three strong cameras is great news for photographers who don’t want to compromise. Each of these cameras will challenge everything you thought you knew about compact image quality. The resolution and rendering performance of the fixed NIKKOR lenses is exceptional. And with portability and speed a constant throughout the range, you can even choose your camera like you choose your lens—pick the focal length range you need for the style of photography you’re into, or the kinds of situations you might encounter. Anyone who wants to stay nimble, or perhaps even shoot discreetly, can come home feeling delighted with the images they’ve captured.”
