Nikon introduces the stylish COOLPIX S9700 and slimline COOLPIX S9600 ‘easy share’ cameras (07.02.2014)

Nikon Europe today adds two new stylish and slender cameras to its COOLPIX line up. High performance compact cameras built with sharing in mind, the COOLPIX S9700 offers 30x optical zoom* and the COOLPIX S9600 provides 22x optical zoom**; so whether you want to capture the band from the back row, or shoot a movie of a distant object, these cameras have it covered. To ensure sharp shots and steady movie clips, both have a back-illuminated, 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and 5-axis Hybrid VR (Vibration Reduction) combining Lens Shift VR and Electronic VR to counter camera shake and give superb stability. Built-in WiFi also allows you to use your smart device as a remote control and to transfer images automatically to your smart device for easy uploading and sharing***.

The Nikon COOLPIX S9700 – The slimline camera that packs a punch

For those who want to have fun with photography, the slender COOLPIX S9700 combines performance with ease of use.

Its 30x optical zoom lens with an incredible 25-750 mm range – extendable to 60x with Dynamic Fine Zoom* – puts you where the action is, so you’ll capture every detail. When snapping people, Nikon’s Smart Portrait System (with features including Smile Timer, Blink Proof and Red-Eye Fix) helps achieve perfect portraits. Once you have the shot you want, an extensive retouch menu on the 7.5-cm (3”) 921kdots OLED screen means you can add fun effects or use Glamour Retouch to make your subjects look even better. Early subject detection means you’re always ready to shoot sharply. Pre AF activates immediately to shorten autofocus time and get crisp results even at full zoom or in low light.

Built-in Wi-Fi opens up further fun possibilities. You can connect to your smart device to use it as a remote control to achieve ideal self-portraits without getting your own arm in shot. Or you can use the smart device connection to upload and instantly share photos with family and friends via email or social media networks.

The camera’s GPS and GLONASS functions mean that detailed location information can be recorded on each photo. Your travel routes can even be logged via the world map function so you’ll never forget where you took that incredible photo. Scene Auto Selector optimizes camera settings, leaving you to focus on framing your fabulous photos, while Lens Shift VR counters the effect of camera shake for sharper images.

Its back-illuminated 16MP CMOS system allows for sharply detailed photos and the high-definition display offers clear visibility of both menu and images during shooting and playback. Set manual exposure modes (P/S/A/M) and scene modes with the simple turn of a dial and capture Full HD video at the touch of a button, whilst recording with stereo sound quality. The Easy Panorama function gives stunning scenery the attention it deserves and the high-speed continuous shooting mode enables you to catch fast-moving action or the perfect smile or facial expression that will make the moment.

The high-zoom COOLPIX S9600 delivers flawless photos from its slim, lightweight body. This Wi-Fi enabled, wide angle 22x optical zoom camera (extendable to 44x with Dynamic fine zoom) ensures photos and movies are crisp, clear, and always worth sharing.

The sensitive image sensor ensures your photos are sharp and perfectly detailed – even those taken in low light conditions such as a nighttime concert or sporting event. Built in Wi-Fi allows you to transfer photos easily to a smart device to share them instantly on social networks or via email. Alternatively, use it to turn your smart device into a remote control, and impress friends with your perfect portraits.

Steady shots and movie clips are ensured, thanks to Hybrid VR (vibration reduction) which combines Lens Shift and Electronic VR for highly effective countering of camera shake, reducing blur and creating sharper images, even when shooting a movie while walking.
